How the room area calculator works
Net floor area = length × width − excluded area. Estimated purchase area = net area × (1 + allowance ÷ 100). Split L-shaped spaces into rectangles and add their net areas instead of estimating them as one large rectangle.
Worked example
For a 12 × 10 ft room with 8 sq ft excluded, the net area is 112 sq ft. With 10% extra, plan for 123.2 sq ft.
Before you order
Area is not the same as product packaging: calculate cartons or pieces separately, using the coverage shown on the actual product label.
All results are planning estimates, not a guarantee of installed material quantity or a quote. Measure the actual project, verify product labels, and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
